Overview

This page covers the steps for upgrading the Floating Licence Service to version 1.6.

NOTE: this process is only applicable when upgrading from CHPS version prior to 1.6

This process assumes the following:

Familiarity with IIS administration

Administrator privileges

The Floating Licence Service and CHPS Floating Licence Database have already been setup. If not, then the process for setting up a new Floating Licence Service installation can be followed.

Upgrading the Floating Licence Service

Upgrading the Floating Licence Service only involves replacing the Floating Licence Web Service files, and the Floating Licence Admin Tools (now called Floating Licence Manager). No database updates are required.

1.Determine the location of the folder containing the current Floating Licence Web Service files (you can use IIS Manager to locate this folder)

2.Make a copy of the web.config file. This file will be used later in the process.

3.Note the web site and application pool used by the current Floating Licence Web Service. Also note any customised configurations so that these can be restored, if needed.

4.Delete the Floating Licence Web Service application from IIS. Delete the corresponding physical folder also.

5.Optionally, locate and delete the Floating Manager Admin Tool folder.

6.Follow the process for installing the Floating Licence Service Files. Use the web site and application pool noted in step 3, when prompted.

7.Once installed, use the newly installed desktop shortcut to navigate to the Floating Licence Service Supporting Files folder.

8.In that folder is a shortcut to the folder containing the Floating Licence Web Service files. Double-click the shortcut to open that folder.

9.Copy the web.config file from step 2 into this folder, overwriting the existing file.

10.If needed, activate the CHPS Floating Licence.

11.Check the status of the Floating Licence Web Service, resolving an errors if any.
