The CHPS extension has its own set of tools (on a tool bar), a description of the tools and their function is available below.

Turns on functionality of the CHPS toolbar. This needs to be clicked before any of the other CHPS tools can be used. |

Opens the CHPS Control Panel which enables you to change your Yarder and Profile parameters. |

This is similar to the Standard ArcGIS Desktop Select Elements tool, use it to select your CHPS graphics (ie Yarders and Profiles). |

Creates Profiles in a radial pattern from your Yarder location, the number of Profiles and Profile length is configured in the Options dialogue. |
||
You can create Profiles manually by selecting this tool, then selecting your Yarder location and then Tailhold position. Each subsequent click will create an additional Tailhold position linked to the selected Yarder.You can configure this tools behavior. |

This extends or trims the closest Profile, if you click where you would like the Tailhold to be, the Tailhold will relocate itself along the existing Profile line. It will either extend along the line, or trim the line. |
||
Creates a copy of the active Profile group. |
||
Add Ground Survey Points to the map from a file. Ground survey points can be used to improve the accuracy of the terrain. |
||
Removes selected Ground Survey Points from the map. |

Removes all Ground Survey Points from the map. |

Adds a Yarding Limit from the Yarder out to your click point on the Profile. Payload calculations then start from this location. Note that this is linked to the Yarder 'Yarding Limit' parameter on the Profile in the CHPS Control Panel. |

Adds a Yarding Limit out from the Tailhold location at your click point along the Profile. Payload calculations will end at this point. Note that this is linked to the 'Tailhold No Calculation Zone' parameter on the Profile in the CHPS Control Panel. |

Clears the selection of all selected CHPS elements, it does not clear the selected features using the ArcMap 'Select Features' tool, you need to use the ArcMap 'Clear Selected Features tool for those features. |

This tool deletes the selected Profile |

This tool deletes the active Profile group ie removes all the Profiles linked to selected Yarder as well as the Yarder. |

This tool deletes all CHPS elements in the map ie all Yarders and Profiles currently loaded in ArcMap. |

This tool zooms to the extent of CHPS elements in the map |

The reporting menu contains the three reporting tools below, to access the reporting tools, select the 'Report' button |

This tool is used to create a 'Profile Group Report' in PDF format. The report will contain a title page and a report for each Profile in the currently selected Profile group. A Profile or the Yarder must be selected for this report to work. |

This tool is used to create a 'Profile Report' in PDF format, there must be an active Profile for this tool to run the report on. |
||
This tool is used to create a Profile Report in CSV format. If you use Microsoft Excel the CSV report will open in Excel. |
||
This opens the 'CHPS Configuration Options' dialogue, this enables you to manage your settings to adapt the behavior of CHPS |

This opens the Database Configuration Manager, for more information on how to configure your database connection please see 'The Database' |
||
The 'About CHPS' dialogue tells you about the version of CHPS you are using, your license information (and ability to update your license) and gives you access to this user guidance |
